NILUFAR / FAR CRAFT MANIA

During Milan Design Week 2022, Paper Factor produced the materials for "Craftmania," the fifth exhibition in the FAR series. FAR is a parallel curatorial entity hosted within the spaces of Nilufar, aiming to challenge the established Milanese gallery's characteristic language.

Craftmania, an exhibition curated by Valentina Ciuffi (Studio Vedèt), took place in 2022 at Nilufar Depot. The concept emerged from the observation of a growing trend towards craft, which avoids traditional rhetoric and approaches the past with curiosity and irreverence. Craftmania explores the complex and ambiguous persona of the artisan. Some designers reject the logic of repetition and mass production, as well as the rhetoric of imperfection, in favor of exploring what could be called as techno-craft.

The installation, crafted by Space Caviar in collaboration with Paper Factor, showcased the works of artists Etienne Marc, Carlo Lorenzetti, and Odd Matter. Each artist occupied individual hemicycles delineated by panels made from Paper Factor's micro paper. Both the pedestals and the wall dividers featured a bespoke variety of the Informale skin.
