INTERIOR / PRODUCT

In 2022 Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann invited the French artist duo Gaëlle Gabillet and Stéphane Villard to collaborate, granting them an exclusive carte blanche at the Parisian department store. This collaboration, entirely made of micro-paper served as a tribute to contemporary design within the historic monument.

Spread across five floors, the permanent installation 'Stairway to the Heavens' invites visitors to explore immersive trompe-l’œil panoramas, crafted from digital images and enhanced by unique lighting fixtures. This artistic collaboration between Gaëlle Gabillet and Stéphane Villard from Studio GGSV and Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann creates a dialogue between their very different aesthetics.
The design duo has crafted a collection of lamps that complement their visual universe, extending the forms, materials, and effects found on the staircase walls. Collaborating with skilled artisans, these creations merge traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. With the marble-like technique on papier-mâché lamps by Paper Factor, Studio GGSV's pieces reflect the dynamic interplay between heritage and contemporary innovation within this enduring artistic project at the department stores.
